RARA-AVIS: Re: Female protagonists in hard-boiled fiction and roman noir

Amy,

are you including the books that were written by female writers, such as Margaret Millar and Elisabeth Sanxay Holding, that could be classified as female noir, with tinges toward the gothic atmosphere and not much of violent action or hardboiled posing? They have, in almost all of them, a female protagonist.

Other writers in this area might include Ursula Curtiss, Helen Nielsen
(who had also her hardboiled moments), Charlotta Armstrong and Patricia Highsmith. Surely there are others.

Juri
