One should not mess with Joyce: who here can hope to write as
brilliantly as he did? Some prissy motherfucker who taught me
literature in college used to dismiss Faulkner as somebody
who didn't know how to write ("bad grammar", etc.). You gotta
laugh... (I didn't then, because I was earnest about Books,
think about that...). Oh, this person also thought Stevenson
was a mere entertainer...
