I second that emotion - Bruen's one of a kind.

Other books - THE DEATH OF SWEET MISTER by Daniel Woodrell is essential for anyone with noir tastes.
  Mutual seconding and agreement here, Ray. I prefer that one to TOMATO RED and GIVE US A KISS (neither of which appeared after 2000 anyway).
