My thanks to Allan Guthrie for letting us know about *Noir
Originals Zine.*
I have have read only one article, "The Hardboiled Thirties,"
by Michael Robison, but it is a good one.
Miker, as he is known on Rara-Avis and other lists, gives a
thumbnail of not just hardboiled but noir of that period. At
the same time he, consciously or unconsciously, makes the
argument: all noir is hardboiled, but all hardboiled is not
noir.
It's obvious, but it never hit me until I read this article.
Maybe others have made the same argument, but I just missed
it--or I failed to make the observation. A big "duh" on my
part.
You can click to the article without leaving Rara-Avis
at:
http://www.allanguthrie.co.uk/thirties.htm
When you're there, you can click to the rest of the zine and
still get back to Rara-Avis.
Thanks, Al.
Thanks, Miker.
Now to take the look at the rest of the site.
Jack Bludis
PS: No BSP here, I have nothing in the zine.
