I've just started looking at Ellroy's latest and find it almost unreadable. I think he's trying to get a poetry/rap thing going with all those short sentences. But it reads more like Jane and John Do Vegas. Has he used up his lifetime allocation of pronouns?

The book was remaindered (already!) so I should have known.
