I have read nothing by Warren. I have one book, in translation (don't remember the name), but I have a feeling that it's one of those late-fifties British takes on the American genre. I think he gets mentioned (and slapped in the face) in Barzun's and Taylor's "A Catalogue of Crime". In Hubin's bibliography there's his real name - oh, there it is, George Chapman. He was born in 1925 and might still be amongst us. He wrote his fifteen-ish books in the fifties and sixties. All for Gifford.
