He wrote Butcher's Boy, which won the Edgar for 1982 and its sequel,
Sleeping Dogs. Lately he is writing a series about Jane Whitfield, who is
half Native American and makes people 'disappear. The first in the series is
Vanishing Act. The protagonist of Butcher's Boy is a killer who has no
qualms. The character has a lot in common with Westlake's Parker. Most of
Perry's lead characters are similar. Jane Whitfield is a little different
as she helps those in trouble.
