In a recent post James Michael Rogers asked if Bouchercon
gave:
"perpetrators equal panel time?"
Since questions of jargon come up from time to time, it
might interest
people on the list to know that "perpetrator" isn't as
universal a
term as many suppose. It's regional, largely confined to the
East.
In Chicago, where I work now, the preferred term is
"offender." In
the East Bay Area of CA, where I started, they were referred
to as
