Tue, 11 Aug 1998 06:48:52 EDT I have been lurking on the list for awhile. I am new to reading HB so I
really did not have much to say; but this discussion is going to bring me out
of the wood work.

Has it occurred to any one the only way a women can or could get published in
the sub genre of hard boiled is to publish under a male name. Just as James
Tipptree, Jr. had to use a male in the sci fi pulp market. Likewise Woolrich
published romance gothics both as a male and a female. As recently as two
years ago I was approached to write "male adventure." One of the
stipulations, I take a male psudonym.

I just thought you might want to consider as we escape into the fantasy of
super heroes and bad guys are you sure of the sex of who wrote this novel?
Does it matter? Excuse me now. At 47, I just discovered Chandler and seem to
be averaging a book a day.
