Re: RARA-AVIS: Hard-Boiled Women Authors and Genre Boundaries

with the lady's appendage, says in passing, "I've gotten a lot of
interesting things. One time I got a woman's glass eye this way."

O'Connor never fails to horrify me and at the same time leave me convulsed
in laughter. Hard-boiled and then some.

Didn't Flannery O'Connor write a story where a travelling salesman
steals a young woman's wooden leg. I know it was in the anthology with
the quoted A Good Man is Hard to Find. It may have been the same story.
