I know, for instance, that Sandra Scoppettone wrote at least
three
novels as Jack Early: A Creative Kind of Killer, Razzamatazz
and Donato
and Daughter. I think they have since been republished under
her own
name. I read them some time ago, when they first came out, but
I
remember them as pretty good and pretty hardboiled. Spoiler
Alert: One
of the nice things about the second book is that the female
character is
able to defend and save herself just before the male characters
who are
rushing to protect her get there. It makes for a very
suspenseful, very
satisfying ending.
