Howard Browne had published lots of William McGivern's early
pulp stories, both crime and science fiction, in the pulps he
edited for Ziff-Davis. So they knew each other. Now, if only
McGivern had a character reading a Paul Pine.
I haven't been able to track down the John Evans books, but
THE TASTE OF ASHES under Browne's own name is a
masterpiece.
