Another excellent novel by Cain : THE BUTTERFLY.
James Cain can be very disappointing in a lot of his other
novels, but as I always said about this author: when he's
good, he's exceptionally good ! His few top novels justify
his high ranking in the HB/noir pantheon. IMO, one of the
three great American founders, next to Hammett and
Chandler.
