What is Thornburg's situation? A few months back somebody mentioned health problems, if I recall correctly.

Why has a writer this good not received more acclaim? Would it be possible to have him as a guest? My interest in him has definitely grown with this last read.

************ Thanks for the recommendation on Lion at the Door, Mario. I thought the dialogue in Cutter and Bone was as good as any I've ever read. I've read quite a few writers who were wonderful at description, but few can match Thornburg's sharp, biting wit.

Had a great time down in Tijuana today. Great place. I've been working hard on my Spanish, but it was hard to understand them when they spoke quickly. Most of the time I could catch enough to get the jist, and I could ask the little children questions when I was buying gum from them. Ate dinner at Tijuana Tilly's. Knowing a little Spanish made it a bunch better.
