New Scudder by Block (was RE: RARA-AVIS: Upstairs and downstairs)

He's done it again, after doing that in HOPE TO DIE, the previous Scudder? After so many books in the first person, I wonder what's made him change. Scudder is the core of them all, and his voice and the way tells the stories is what makes them. You really feel you get to know him over the years.

    He looked in the mirror. Yes, he thought. Yes. Soon, soon
    he would have a section of this e-mail all to himself. It
    couldn't be in italics, but it would be indented. And everyone
    would know it was different, and that HE was different. And
    he would show them all. Slowly, he drew an X over his face in
    the foggy mirror.

I was very disappointed in the last Scudder book, and I doubt I'll bother with this one now that I know he's structured it the same way.
