Mark,

My favorite is the one you've already mentioned, THE BRIDE WORE BLACK. However, many prefer RENDEVOUS IN BLACK in which Woolrich reworks the theme of the murderer motivated to avenge the death of a loved one.
I think BRIDE is a technical tour de force, managing to be simultaneously an inverted story and a whodunit, something I've never seen anyone else do.

Another oft-mentioned Woolrich novel is PHANTOM LADY, the first one he wrote as "William Irish." His only
"George Hopley" novel, THE NIGHT HAS A THOUSAND EYES, also has its partisans.
