A matter of opinion. I consider "Straw Dogs" and "The Wild
Bunch" Peckingpah's best movies. "The Getaway" is a good
film, even though the ending was sanitized. "Paths of Glory",
along with the "The Third Man", are probably my two favorite
films, so I'm not going to try to argue that "Straw Dogs"
ranks with it. But while I think "Solomon's Vineyard" is a
terrific book, I'll tell you, it's a lot nastier than "Straw
Dogs". Sado-masochism, necrophiliasm, and an even higher body
count. But Karl Kraven pulling Pug Banta's head through the
jail bars and using his head as a punching bag makes it all
worth it!

Nope. Nothing hypocritical about your statement of fact. I
was referring to the UK banning this film. I wonder if
"Clockwork Orange" has been banned in the UK, a more violent
film that some people could argue denigrates women and shows
rape as "fun".
