Jim, your memory serves you correctly. The town is Wheaton, in western Mass. (I don't know if there really is a Wheaton, MA or not). POTSHOT, the latest Spenser, is similar in that it also involves town-taming. But it's more like THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN than RED HARVEST.
