The true test of any definition is to take it out of the
experts' hands and to see how the great unwashed see it. We
all know what hardboiled is or at least what we believe
hardboiled is. But we're at an advantage having the buzzwords
done and the storylines read, etc. Take Jim's definition or
anyone's for that matter, hand it to a non-hardboiled reader,
and ask them what hardboiled is based on the definition that
they've read ... then we might be getting somewhere. Assuming
we hope to get somewhere, Jim's sticktoitness leads to
believe that he is.
