I have run across alot of Thompson fans that consider this their favorite and Thompson's best. It was part of my recent re-reading of Thompson
(1.Getaway). The theology thrown in pop 1280 is interesting but I just don't know what he was saying exactly with that. The reference on the first page to kingdom come foreshadows Corey's later belief in himself as christ returned. On the last page Thompson has Corey as christ saying love one another and don't screw anybody unless they are bent over and maybe this is a Thompson message given close to the end of his writing life. I don't know. I've thought about it and thought about it and then I thought some more and I have come to a decision. I don't know what Thompson was trying to say no more than if I was just another lousy human being!

Paul Miller if you haven't read pop 1280 that last line will make no sense.
