Well, Jim, because I have an open mind and like to learn.
This is an author with a reputation. Some people like the
stuff. In fact a lot of people do. So I'll have a look at it,
and I may be unpleasantly surprised, but that's all in a
day's read. And then I ask my friends whether I just happen
to have picked a bad example and should try a different
one.
FYI, the last time I had such a negative reaction to an
author, it was Elizabeth George.
