if you'll cut Mitchum some slack, then you should do the same
for Del Toro, who is every bit as hard boiled as Bob ever
was.
also, as one who writes for film, I can assure you that just
because you don't see the prose in front of you, doesn't mean
that hard boiled films aren't written.
however, you are the boss so you get to define the rules,
however arbitrary they may seem to the rest of us.
