Hello, all.

I agree with Kevin that Parker can't be labeled a Marlowe-mimicker. In fact, his *attempts* to mimic Marlowe were rightfully criticized for being too much like Spenser.

As Kerry wrote, Parker's trouble is he's settled into the sports-devotion-toughness-morality groove. In the 70s, this was Parker's beat alone. Then came Healy, Crais, and Coben--all of whom have continued to evolve--while Parker has taken to mimicking
*himself.* (See recent Spenser, Jesse Stone, Sunny Randall.)
