Very sad news. Mari was a long-time participant in
rec.arts.mystery and in rara-avis. Her sense of humor and
candid assessments of mystery writers were a delight. I knew
she was under severe treatment for something, but not that
she was ill with cancer.
A first death in an electronic list is shocking; I still
remember when a participant and founder of a classical music
group committed suicide. In some ways, we feel we know a
person, despite the limitations of this medium.
To Mari, a fond goodbye.
