caught alan parker's angel heart (1987) this weekend. and ...


seems like the story (p.i. hired to find missing person that turns out, essentially, to be himself ... sort of) is one i've seen or read before.

so where has this trope--where both the subject (the p.i.) and the object (the missing/dead/lost person) of the p.i. story are one and the same--been seen before? i'm going nuts trying to pick the noggin ...
