Tue, 18 May 1999 21:48:28 -0400 For music, look at some of the wealth of film scores available on
commercial recordings: Bernard Herrmann's incidental music for _North by
Northwest_, Alfred Newman's _Street Scene_ theme, etc. For a modern touch,
you might try Bryan Adams' song "In the Heat of the Night," which--I have
always thought--refers to Ernest Hemingway's _The Killers_.

As far as art, look at George Bellows (maybe pairing his "Dempsey-Firpo"
knockout painting with the film _The Set-Up_), Reginald Marsh, and Edward
Hopper. Oh, yes--and Weegee's news photographs.

Good luck!
