RARA-AVIS: Martin Cruz Smith

Frank D (bearlodge@email.msn.com)
Mon, 3 May 1999 03:26:33 -0700 Virginia Rivas Perez asked about Martin Cruz Smith and suggested that he
must spend a lot of time in Russia. I don't know about recently, but at the
time of the first Russian book, Gorky Park, it was said that he spent two
weeks in Moscow getting the settings and police organization down.

More recently, did he spend some time on a Russian fishing boat? Did he go
down in an English mine? I don't recall seeing any articles about Smith.
As suggested, he is a fine writer and Rose was an excellent book. I've
liked them all, the Gypsy books, Nightwings, Stallion Gate and the rest.

Cheers, Frank Denton
