The film, by Wim Wenders, was a big miss!
A few good scenes did not save the inconsistency of
the plot and continuity. Wenders filming did not
really help to save the day.
(Wenders is otherwise a very good director as
witnessed by his early German films or the very good
"American Friend"- HB and Noir- even if not faithful
to the novel by P.Highsmith)
In my documentation, Gores has no credit for the
script or adaptation of "Hammett". Maybe he refuses
his part of the credit?
