were all Edgar nominees (and in my opinion, *Hearse* was far
superior
to the book that won that year, Ellis Peters's *Death &
the Joyful
Woman*). *Dollar* won the British Crime Writers Golden
Dagger for
Best Novel.>>
On the other hand, Macdonald never *won* an Edgar for a
novel. This is a
curious and rather inexplicable fact given that he wrote so
many - and
that so many who *did* win are now forgotten. In any case, I
wouldn't
put too much faith in awards.
