Wasn't there a Black Mask writer -- Nebel or Davis -- who had a series
character set in the Phillippines?

I guess if the name doesn't spring to mind, the series and the character
don't fit the "well-known" part of the equation. But certainly if the
writer is Nebel or Davis, the series creator worked widely in the formative
years of the genre. -- Duane
