Sat, 21 Nov 1998 09:40:12 -0600 Peter, thank you so kindly for posting John Harvey and Mellotone's URL,
I simply couldn't find it (tho't I had it bookmarked, but I do now).
So I presume "Brit wit" about Jeffery Deaver being "(some unknown guy
from America) who's short promises good things to come - its excellent."
Dear Peter, our Jeffrey is well-known here. He's had a made-for-tv movie
staring James Garner (as the FBI guy) of A MAIDEN'S DREAM; his Linc
Rhyme books (latest Coffin Dancer, first The Bone Collector) are being
made into a movie with Denzel Washington (even Chris Reeve has mentioned
that Denzel came by to see him and get pointers on how a quadraplegic
behaves). Although I can't locate the info, I'm sure he was nominated
for an Edgar (our equal to your CWA) for Manhatten Is My Beat for best
first novel or else for Death of a Blue Movie Star for paperback
original or some such.

Rankin (some Scottish guy),

oh it was "Brit wit"
> Other writers include o load of people I've never heard of

Ms. Carter has two books, well one out RED ROOSTER (about a female jazz
sax player on the streets of New York who takes home a guy who ends up
murdered) and COQ AU VIN which will be out soon (I hope) these are not
to be missed. They are in Serpent's Tale press.

Rosanne Cash, surely this is not Johnny Cash and June Carter's legendary
daughter who gave up country music and went to England and became
famous? She writes too?

and Kirsty Gunn
well, I haven't heard of this one.

Again, thanks for making me so envious for those that got to attend
Deansgate week-end. That would have been my dream week-end.
