Manhunter is Michael Mann's adaptation of Thomas Harris' RED
DRAGON. Harris
then wrote the follow up novel, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. A couple
of characters
carry over, notably Hannibal Lecter and special agent Frank
Crawford (played
by Scott Glenn in the movie version of Silence and by Dennis
Farina in
Manhunter) Both movies are fairly faithful adaptations of the
novels.
Bryan Cox is utterly terrifying as Lecter. And Tom Noonan as
the Red Dragon
will make you jump out of your chair. Manhunter was made in
1984 and is
available to rent at your local Blockbuster.
