Bill Pronzini's introduction to the 2007 Millipede Press edition of
"Nightfall", which I read a couple of weeks ago, says that Goodis died of
cirrhosis of the liver. I see Imdb's brief bio also gives the same cause of
death. Clearly a widespread misconception.
