Peter Temple, who started his writing career with the character Jack Irish has just been awarded the Miles Franklin, Australia's major literature prize for his novel , 'Truth' . Temple has already won 4 Ned Kelly awards for his crime writing and in 2007 he was awarded the Duncan Laurie Dagger at the 2007 British Crime Writers' Association awards for The Broken Shore. Having recently finished Truth I can only say it's throughly deserved. Its as tough as anything you're likely to read and a is masterclass in writing dialogue.
