Btw. who published Cornell Woolrich
> > and Ross Macdonald originally?
Woolrich covered the waterfront. Liveright, Lippincott, S&S, Dodd, Mead (for
the short stories mainly, I think) and maybe Knopf. The early Kenneth Millar
books may all have been Dodd Mead Red Badge Detective novels, but once he
changed his name to variations of John, John Ross and eventually Ross
Macdonald and began writing about Lew Archer, it's been Knopf (except for
the short-story collections).
