Joy, that's the title. At one point I renamed in to '28 Minutes' to give it a generic thriller title, but the movie people went back to 'Outsourced', and then so did Serpent's Tail. It's a bank heist book--a group of desperate software engineers who've been made obsolete due to outsourcing and an erosion of skills, come up with what's close to a brilliant plan to rob a bank, except things don't work out exactly as planned. The book has an unintentional Richard Stark/Donald Westlake feel, and some of the book editors who looked at it commented that it seemed like a mix of Falling Down and Ocean's 11 (also unintentional)--but one of the producers involved on the film side worked on both films...
Btw. I wrote this one back in 2004. When it was making the rounds, several editors in NY tried to acquire it, but they ended up getting shot down because their editorial boards were afraid that outsourcing wouldn't be a big issue by the time the book came out late 2005/early 2006. Sigh.
