i've been on a parker jag for the past couple of weeks and just started "the mourner"... (after having read "the jugger" and "the seventh" and then started from the beginning (and having read "slayground" in 1977 or 1978))... and i'm kinda bummed to realize that stark/westlake beat me to the punch of writing a novel about what effie might have done after she left the service of sam spade....
several years ago i thought it would be cool to write a sequel to "the maltese falcon" that revealed that effie had the dingus!
