      There are short books getting published and praised and even translated. On
      my computer:

      James Sallis: Drive, 22 482 words
      Scott Phillips: The Ice Harvest, 37 291 words
      Duane Swierczynski: The Wheelman, 42 811 words

      The word counts are for the Finnish translations, which means usually that
      the original works are somewhat shorter.
