I thought those of you who are writers or publishers might like to be aware of this decision.

The Aust. Govt. has been debating the subject of bookselling for more than a year now. What this means, although its not spelled out here, is that if you are a writer based in the US your work won't be available in Australia unless you have an English Publisher or are published one of the several Australian small press publishers beginning to pick up specialist US titles. Australia is a fairly significant english language book market. What it means for readers of US Noir/Crime fiction is that we continue to have to import books and/or pay inflated local prices.

    Eric
