The manuscript explanation must be the good one. The same thing happened
in the "Série Noire" with several novels by Chester Himes, which were
published in France before being so in the USA, and with a different
title than the original title indicated on the French editions (e.g.
"The Five-Cornered Square" will end up as "For Love of Imabelle", "If
Trouble Was Money" as "The Real Cool Killers").
