Well, this isn't really an asylum... but there's a great book set in a rehab center: Howard Swindle's JITTER JOINT, which came out from St. Martin's about 10 years ago. I loved it and the sequel, DOIN' DIRTY, but I believe the author passed away shortly after that. :-(
