Yep, they are pains in the ass to those of us not involved.
When we get to flames, I usually skim instead of read. When they get too bad, I just skip.
For what it's worth, I passed on using blurbs from relatively well-known writer when they were basically generic, but I've also had great crit from decent writers who did bother to read my arcs before they commented.
