Yes, and it's full of incredibly dubious and triplicitous characters... These novels are like Parker novels except that Helm is not a thief. A single-minded and wholly hardboiled protagonist. The advantage of having such a character-centered series is that many of the incidentals, which might seem dated, don't matter so much. The thing is to follow Helm and see if he can do it.
