He did and one of his teachers there was Nelson Algren. I don't think he actually taught Crumley much but they played a fair bit of poker. The Iowa teacher who did influence Crumley was the writer and critic RV Cassill, Jim Thompson's great champion and the man who turned Crumley on to crime fiction.
