    You're thinking of JOE MACBETH (Columbia, 1956) with Paul Douglas and Ruth Roman.

    A recent film version of ROMEO AND JULIET with Leonardo DiCaprio, reimagined the setting as modern urban gangsters, too, with the Montagues and the Capulets as rival mob factions.

    There was a recent TV drama that used the plot of OTHELLO as the framework for a modern British cop story.

    And of course, WEST SIDE STORY was a musical about urban juvenile street gangs, that used the plot of ROMEO AND JULIET.
