The Lincoln Lawyer is probably best described as a legal thriller.  The Brass Verdict features both the main character from The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey Haller, and Harry Bosch in a supporting role, if you will.  Close readers familiar with all of Connelly's work will already know about the connection between these characters.
The Brass Verdict is much more thriller than noir.  Both books are excellent and on the dark side, but I wouldn't characterize them as hard boiled.  Hope this helps.
