Lots of crime writers have done time, for one reason or another. One of those was Donald Goines, who was later shot to death. In Scotland, there's Jimmy Boyle and Hugh Collins, both convicted murderers. And then there's Krystian Bala... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6979457.stm
