I remember when I was a kid growing up in Johannesburg
seeing
'Diabolik' published in one of the newspapers. Also 'Axa',
which was a French (I think) sci fi comic in English. Wish
I'd paid more attention to the stuff. I grew up in an Italian
neighborhood and would leaf through a lot of the
fummetti--mostly westerns and Topolino (ie. Donal Duck)
comics--wishing I could read Italian. Guess I should have
taken lessons.
