RARA-AVIS: Maltese Falcon

It might be interesting to look at Spade and Brigid as contrasted to Continental Op and the princess in Couffignal. The women are similar, essentially femme fatales willing to do what it takes to get what they want. The detectives, however, are a little different. Spade has a more personal code, a bit like Mike Hammer, while Op has his private eye code. Different from Marlowe in Chandler yet still a code with some slight existential meaning.

I prefer Spade, a more complex thus more interesting character.
