Thanks, very good article. Simenon didn't win the Nobel,
neither did Greene, and probably Leonard won't either. What a
shame. Maybe Cormac McCarthy will win it. That would be a
satisfaction for many hardboiled fans.
As to Simenon, he was outstanding. Yes, he was prolific, but
I have not encountered any second-rate stuff by him. He kept
Maigret going through character and the Maigrets remained
interesting, quite the feat.
